Position OverviewThe Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Kansas seeks a tenure-track Professor at the Assistant level to join the School Psychology program. This position is a nine-month appointment beginning August 18th, 2025, with a competitive salary commensurate with experience and education.
The University of Kansas School Psychology program has a doctoral (Ph.D.) and an educational specialist (Ed.S.) program. The Ph.D. and Ed.S. programs are approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). They are accredited by the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE). The Ph.D. program is also accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) and has been continuously accredited since 1986. In addition to the Ph.D. and Ed.S. programs in school psychology, the Department of Educational Psychology offers Ph.D. and master's degrees in counseling psychology, development and learning, and research, evaluation, measurement, and statistics. The Ph.D. program in counseling psychology is also APA-accredited.

Job Description
Teaching (.40 FTE) - Teach core school psychology courses
- Teach graduate level courses for the School Psychology program during the academic year. Two courses per semester is the general expectation, with opportunities for summer teaching if desired.
- Advise and mentor Ed.S. and Ph.D. students in the School Psychology program.
- Advise and mentor Ed.S. and Ph.D. student research projects.
Research/Scholarship (.40 FTE) - Direct an ongoing program of research in school psychology and/or closely related fields
- Create, develop, and advance a research agenda in school psychology and/or related fields.
- Produce research suitable for publication in peer-reviewed journals or other scholarly outlets in school psychology and related fields.
- Produce research suitable for presentation at national conferences (e.g., American Psychological Association or National Association of School Psychologists).
- Pursue and maintain external funding to support research.
Service (.20 FTE) - Engage in service for the School Psychology Program, Department of Educational Psychology, School of Education & Human Sciences, University of Kansas, and the field of School Psychology
- Serve on the School Psychology Program Committee.
- Chair and serve on Ph.D. student committees for the School Psychology program
- Serve on faculty and student committees for the Department of Educational Psychology, School of Education and Human Sciences, and University of Kansas.
- Collaborate in research, teaching, and service with colleagues from the Department of Educational Psychology, School of Education & Human Sciences, and University of Kansas
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate in School Psychology or closely related field (e.g., Clinical Child Psychology). ABD will be considered with the expectation that the candidate will complete the degree by start date of appointment.
- Graduated from an APA and/or NASP accredited program
- A recognizable line of research in school psychology and/or a related field with potential for or established grant funding
- Licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in Kansas
