The Department of Psychological Science at University of North Carolina Charlotte (https://psych.charlotte.edu/) is seeking candidates in the area of psychology for a non-tenure track position at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor to begin on August 15, 2024.
Required qualifications: M.A. in Psychology or related field; related teaching experience at the undergraduate level; evidence of the ability to interact and communicate effectively with students of diverse backgrounds. A Ph.D. degree in Psychology or a related field is required for the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor.
Preferred qualifications: The successful applicant will be joining a diverse group of faculty who
value teaching, research, social improvement via practice, and service. The ideal candidate brings:
• A track record of distinguished teaching that engages undergraduate students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience teaching in hybrid, on-line, and in-person formats.
• Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas)
• Ability to teach core courses such as General Psychology, Methods, and other content areas.
The Department of Psychological Science, which has one of the most popular undergraduate majors on campus, offers a BS degree and MA degrees in general and industrial/organizational psychology. The Department is home to the interdisciplinary Health Psychology Ph.D. program, and its faculty are central to the Organizational Science Ph.D. program. Department faculty and students collaborate with scholars across the university, including across our college as well as the College of Health and Human Services, the Belk College of Business, and the Cato College of Education. The Department's Social Justice committee takes active measures to provide faculty with opportunities and resources to advance inclusive excellence. These measures include organizing sessions for self-reflection, identifying resources to aid in syllabus and curricular development, providing teacher training to facilitate civil and thoughtful classroom discussions, and creating newsletters featuring resources related to equity and inclusion.
