Position Overview:
The Director of Healthcare Services & Professional Training has primary responsibility for developing, implementing, and evaluating dementia training programs that are grounded in principles of adult learning and target various care professionals such as clinical healthcare professionals, social workers, and direct care workers. This position manages grants related to healthcare services and professional training and oversees partnerships and outreach to professionals and professional organizations. Additionally, this position supports Alzheimer’s Los Angeles’s involvement in healthcare system reform with the goal of ensuring that systems of care are responsive to the needs of people living with dementia and their family caregivers and ensure Alzheimer’s Los Angeles is viewed as a leader in the field.
The ideal candidate has a strong clinical background and experience with dementia care.
This is a hybrid position requiring some in-person work in our offices or in the community in/around Los Angeles County. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.

Responsibilities
- Strategically respond to the clinical care needs of healthcare systems and professionals to improve healthcare for people with dementia and their family caregivers
- Develop dementia-focused curriculum and training programs based on adult learning principles for professionals (i.e., nurses, care managers, social workers, physicians, direct care workers, emergency response personnel, etc.) and health equity
- Conduct dementia training programs for healthcare professionals and other key professional communities, with an emphasis on clinically based trainings
- Develop evaluation measures for training programs, analyze data to improve programs, and provide feedback to training partners
- Develop strategic approaches for healthcare systems change that focus on equity in dementia detection and post-diagnostic care
- Actively and autonomously promote training opportunities and Alzheimer’s Los Angeles programs to healthcare systems, professional organizations, and to professionals
- Finalize and oversee training contracts with providers, long-term care, health organizations, etc.
- Manage and implement grants, including preparing budgets and monitoring expenditures
- Cultivate partnerships and relationships with healthcare organizations and professionals; conducts outreach
- Modify content of Alzheimer’s Los Angeles online training curriculum, as needed
- Staff or attend meetings, professional outreach events, and conferences
- Develop and deliver professional presentations
- Supervise staff assigned to healthcare services and professional training
Requirements
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required
- Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in nursing, gerontology, social work, psychology, occupational therapy, or related relevant field
- Experience with training/education processes
- Knowledge dementia care clinical practices
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to make presentations to diverse groups (cultures, professions, socioeconomics, etc.)
- · Professional networking experience/abilities
- Ability to learn quickly and turn around quality products in short timeframes
- Computer literate -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- CA driver license, proof of auto insurance, reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with health equity, health literacy, grant management, marketing and online training
- Knowledge of and experience with healthcare systems and interventions to improve quality of care
- Knowledge of adult learning
- Bilingual in English and another language
